This is a traditional fruit & veg shop and offers a far greater selection than the supermarkets. The fruit and veg are fantastic quality. I've been buying the most delicious plums and cherries this summer and they also have white turnips and celeriac when I can't get them anywhere else. The staff are friendly and the pavement display is really attractive. Well done Birrell's - you're doing a great job. (4/5)

As a student I am very money-concious, but this shop never overcharges or disappoints! It isn't a very huge shop, but they manage to pack so many different things into it! My favourite feature is buying curled parsley at the amount you actually want rather than being forced to buy a whole pot of it. (4/5)
